Overnight Camps

Camp Lawrence for boys ages 8-16

From days filled with fun and adventure to nights around the campfire, magical childhood memories are made at Camp Lawrence. Situated on the southern tip of Bear Island on Lake Winnipesaukee, Camp Lawrence is home to two beautiful, natural beaches, multi-purpose playing fields, tennis and basketball courts, a craft shop, archery and riflery ranges, a primitive outpost, ropes courses and more.  Seventy acres of rugged, natural terrain offer our community of 150 campers and 65 staff members plenty of room to grow.

The boys choose their schedules from a wide range of athletic, creative and instructional activities that are designed to challenge campers according to their age, interest and skill. At Camp Lawrence, boys gain the skills and experience necessary for physical, social, emotional and spiritual growth.

Camp Nokomis for girls ages 8-16

For building self-esteem, reconnecting with nature, and making life-long friends, there is no place better than Camp Nokomis for Girls. Camp Nokomis’ forty acres of property includes densely-wooded areas, multi-purpose playing fields, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, an archery range, a craft shop, ropes course, two beaches and more.  Our program for 150 campers led by 60 staff embraces each girl’s individual abilities and needs, while remaining sensitive to her age and interests.

Through a mix of athletic and creative activities, as well as unscheduled time, girls learn to be independent, resilient and confident. Camp Nokomis provides a nurturing environment for each camper to develop her skills and value the skills and talents of her peers.

Packing list

Two week campers who plan carefully should not need to use the laundry service, although it is available to everyone. We recommend a trunk for ease of living at camp and for ease of transport between the mainland and the island. The height of the trunk should not exceed 14” in order to fit under the bed. All campers must have sheets and blankets for their beds, and a pillow is recommended if the child uses one at home.

Please label everything clearly with the camper’s name in indelible marker or on a name tag and tape a list of your camper’s belongings inside the trunk lid. Please also attach labeled masking or other tape to all pieces of luggage. Secure luggage so that nothing falls out during the transportation process.

Trash bags do not constitute good luggage.
