Covid-19 Camp Information

We have received guidelines from the CDC, American Camp Association (ACA) and YMCA of the USA (Y-USA). Links to the guidelines are provided in the FAQ’s below for your reference. Our camp team has been reviewing the guidelines and processing how we can apply them to our individual camp settings. We will be finalizing our health and safety protocols based on these guidelines, as well as, information from the state and local public health officials when it becomes available.

We are still waiting for a decision from the State of NH if/when camps can open and what further restrictions specifically apply to NH. We were hoping to know more by early June. We will be starting to make decisions regarding our camps, with or without that information, and will provide an update by next Friday, June 5th.

Will the camps operate this summer?

We have every intention of operating Camp Lawrence, Camp Nokomis and Camp Otter as scheduled this summer. We are closely monitoring information about COVID-19 and will make adjustments according to the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), American Camp Association (ACA), YMCA of the USA, and state and local public health officials. We will continue to update our website and send out email communication as we learn more.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel Road Rangers this year. Many of the field trip locations are currently closed, therefore we are unable to make the reservations we normally would at this time to prepare for this program.

What health and safety guidelines will be in place this summer?

We have received guidelines from the CDC, American Camp Association (ACA) and YMCA of the USA (Y-USA). Links to those guidelines are provided below for your reference. Our camp team has been reviewing those guidelines and processing how we can apply them to our individual camp settings. We will be finalizing our health and safety protocols based on these guidelines, as well as, information from the state and local public health officials when it becomes available.

Will I be refunded if camp is cancelled?

In the event that our camps are cancelled for the weeks/sessions your child is enrolled, you may select one of the three options below:

  • Get a Refund – Receive a full refund for the amount paid, including deposits which are normally non-refundable.
  • Get a Credit – Apply the amount paid to the 2021 season.
  • Give a Gift – Donate all or part of the amount paid to help support our camps. We will be happy to provide a tax receipt for your thoughtful and generous gift.

Will I be refunded if camp operates, but we choose to not participate?

In the event that our camps operate, but your family chooses not to participate, you must notify us of the cancellation at least two weeks prior to your child’s start date and select one of the three options below:

  • Get a Refund – Receive a full refund for the amount paid, including deposits which are normally non-refundable.
  • Get a Credit – Apply the amount paid to the 2021 season.
  • Give a Gift – Donate all or part of the amount paid to help support our camps. We will be happy to provide a tax receipt for your thoughtful and generous gift.

If the cancellation is received less than two weeks in advance, you will not be eligible for a refund or credit, unless the camper has a documented illness or there is a death of an immediate family member.

Is financial assistance still available?

Yes! We recognize that COVID-19 will have a financial impact on many families. Please contact our camp office at campinfo@mvymca.org if your family now needs consideration for financial assistance for the 2020 season. Our hope is to give every camper currently enrolled the opportunity to attend camp regardless of their family’s economic situation.

Will the camp tours still be held?

Our camp tours scheduled in May will be postponed. We will update our website and send out email communication when we have new dates scheduled.

Do you have virtual programming available?

While our Y branches are temporarily closed, our YMCA staff is working hard to create exercise and activity videos for families and youth to stay active and engaged. Enjoy spending time being active, staying healthy and having fun. Meet us here!

What is the YMCA doing in the community and how can I help?

While our Y branches are temporarily closed, the Lawrence YMCA food pantry has remained open to help fight food insecurity in our community. This initiative serves more than 350 grab-and-go dinners every week night and over 200 families at our food pantry each week. In addition, we hold weekly food drives to help restock our food pantry. All food collection and distribution adheres to social distancing guidelines. Learn how you can help us help others!

How can I contact the camp office?

Our camp office is currently closed, however we are working remotely and are available by phone at 978-975-1330 or by email at campinfo@mvymca.org.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
